Fire crews responded to what eventually became a 2 alarm fire in the 2100 block of Trinity Place in Martinez late last night shortly after 11pm. The first fire engine from Pacheco was able to arrive within 5 minutes of being dispatched, but the fire was already blowing out of the side and rear of the single story home upon their arrival. Fire crews initially thought there was an occupant still inside the home and initiated a search in conjunction with firefighting efforts. The occupant was later accounted for outside of the home. The fire progressed rapidly throughout the home and into the attic prior to our arrival. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the home of origin and no other structures were damaged.
Crews from Pacheco, Martinez, Concordia, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek responded to the fire. Fire crews from the Pittsburg and Bay Point areas moved in to cover stations in the central portions of the District during the incident. Un total de 30 firefighters and 4 chief officers responded to this incident.
Los daños se estiman en $300,000 for the structure and $75,000 for the contents. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but most likely accidental and arson is not considered to be a factor. There were no injuries to firefighters and one person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. The American Red Cross was assisting the 3 adults and their 2 dogs with temporary housing.
