Condo Fire Quickly Extinguished on Sunday
October 22nd, 2012At 1:48pm on Sunday, October 21st a condominium fire was reported in the 800 block of Oak Grove Road in Concord. Arriving fire crews found smoke and flames coming from windows on the second floor of the building. Fortunately this building was located within a block of the Fire District Training Center where two engine companies were training for the afternoon. With a quick response of these crews and other fire crews from Concord and Walnut Creek, they were able to make entry and initiate an aggressive interior attack. The single alarm fire was contained to the second floor of the unit of origin.
The resident was able to escape the fire with his cat and was assessed and treated on scene for smoke inhalation by firefighter/paramedics. No other citizen or firefighter injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is estimated at $100,000 in damage.
