Kirker Pass Vegetation Fire

***The Kirker Incident is contained at 150 acres in size as of 7:45pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire was first reported at approximately 5:41pm. No injuries were reported. Fire crews from Cal Fire and ConFire will be at the scene well into the night mopping up and patrolling the fire to ensure there are no rekindles. No further updates are planned for this incident.***
Fire crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire are on scene of a vegetation fire in the hills between Concord and Pittbsurg, in the area between Bailey Road and Kirker Pass Road. The fire appears to be on the Federal MOTCO property and the Federal Fire Department is also responding to assist. The fire is currently 150 acres in size with a moderate rate of spread. According to the Cal Fire Air Attack Officer overhead, there is a potential for the fire to grow to 300-400 acres in size. A total of 3 air tankers and 2 water dropping helicopters are requested to the fire. Access for firefighters is limited to the area and there are no structures threatened.
At 7:15pm the fire is still at a first alarm assignment. Cal Fire aircraft is overhead and making fire retardent drops at this time.
