Antioch Apartment Fire Displaces Ten Residents
November 20th, 2012At 7:33 pm on Monday November 19, 2012 fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire in an apartment complex located at 3915 Delta Fair Blvd. in Antioch. The first arriving fire crew reported a large column of smoke and one apartment unit fully involved in fire. Upon entry a fire was located in a rear apartment unit of a six-unit building with a common attic. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of our arrival and a long overhaul and salvage process began with crews remaining on scene for three hours. No residents or firefighters were injured. A total of ten people were displaced and the American Red Cross was called to assist with temporary housing for the occupants. The cause of the incident was ruled accidental by our Fire Investigation Unit. Damage was estimated at $500,000.
Fire apparatus from Antioch and Pittsburg responded with a total of 21 firefighters from three engines, two ladder trucks, as well as two Battalion Chiefs, a safety officer, and the Fire Chief.
