APARTMENT FIRE IN PITTSBURG
May 13th, 2012Last night at 10:30pm fire crews responded to a reported structure fire located at 93 Atlantic Plaza Circle in the City of Pittsburg. The first arriving unit reported a fire in a downstairs apartment with flames and smoke extending to the second story. Two fire crews attacked the fire and searched the downstairs fire apartment while a third crew searched the exposed second story apartments for fire extension and occupants who may be in danger. Crews removed a young woman and her 4 year old daughter from the apartment unit above the fire. The fire was under control within 10 minutes of arrival and firefighters limited damage and fire spread to adjacent units by controlling the fire quickly. Damage to the structure is estimated at $30,000 and $15,000 to the contents. One adult female and her three young children were offered temporary housing but declined. Firefighters assisted the occupant remove undamaged belongings. The exact cause of the fire is undetermined at the time of this report. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Units dispatched included 3 Engines, 2 Ladder Trucks, 2 Battalion Chiefs and 1 Fire Investigator.
