FIRE IN HOME DISPLACES ONE
April 17th, 2012Just after 4am this morning a fire was reported at 52 Jimno Ave in Pittsburg. Arriving crews found smoke showing from the eves and roof vents. Upon further investigation a fire was found in the attic above a bedroom. The lone occupant was able to escape uninjured. Crews from Pittsburg, Antioch and Bay Point contained the fire to the attic. The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes, however, crews were committed to the scene for two hours salvaging the resident’s belongings and extinguishing smoldering insulation. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical wiring that had ground-out through a satellite dish low voltage wiring. The fire appeared to have smoldered for some time before the resident awoke to the sound of crackling in the attic. The resident is staying with family in the area. No injuries were reported.
