Garage Fire in Lafayette
March 19th, 2013Firefighters from Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, and Lafayette responded to a fire in a single family home at approximately 2:15pm today. Upon arrival, firefighters had heavy black smoke greeting them from the garage area. Almost 1000 feet of hose was laid down from the nearest hydrant to the front of the home – giving the firefighters the necessary water supply to combat this fire. All the occupants of the home were able to exit on their own and there were no injuries. The fire extended up into the attic space, however firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire before it could cause significant damage to the rest of the home. The fire was brought under control at approximately 2:42pm. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but arson is not suspected. Damage estimates were not immediately available.
