*4pm FINAL UPDATE*
A one alarm structure fire in the 1100 block of Tilson Drive in Concord was brought under control in 30 minutes, but not before the home suffered significant damage. The call came into the Fire District’s communication center just before 11am today. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, and fire crews saw significant amounts of smoke while enroute to the incident. Upon their arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage of the one story home. An interior attack was attempted, however the fire had grown intense and forced firefighters out of the home into a defensive fire attack – applying water to the fire from outside the structure.
20 firefighters from Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek responded to the incident.
There were no injuries, but 5 adults were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was assisting with temporary housing. A cause has not yet been determined, but is most likely accidental. Damage was estimated at $250,000.
