San Pablo Fire Crews Quickly Extinguish 2nd Floor Fire

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Engine 70 (San Pablo) and Richmond Fire Department Engines 66, 62, 67 and Truck 68 responded to a commercial structure fire at 1014 Coalport St. in San Pablo. Engine 70 arrived at scene and reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the second floor of a two story 4-Unit Apartment Building. Fire crews conducted a size-up and then initiated an offensive strategy of interior fire attack, search, and ventilation operations. The upstairs apartments were searched by fire crews and were determined to be unoccupied. The fire was quickly controlled by first alarm units and damage was limited to the apartment of origin.
The fire caused approximately $20,000 in loss to the structure and contents. The cause of this fire is under investigation. The on-call Contra Costa County Fire Investigator responded to the scene. This incident is under joint investigation between the San Pablo Police Department and Contra Costa County Fire.
