Firefighters access the roof from Truck 1 at a working fire on Autumn Oak Circle in Concord on Friday, March 29, 2013
Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews from Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, and Lafayette battled a stubborn two-alarm fire at 994 Autumn Oak Circle in the Crystyl Ranch subdivision in Concord. The first crew arrived in just a few minutes to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage. All the occupants were reported out of the home upon our arrival. One of the occupants, a male in his late 20s, suffered smoke inhalation and possible burns to his head and feet after rushing into the burning garage in an attempt to save his truck – he was transported to a local hospital. The fire spread up into the second floor bedrooms above the garage and eventually into the attic of the two story home.
The fire was reported at 9:13am and firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the fire under control at approximately 10:30am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but arson is not considered a factor. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
