VACANT MARTINEZ HOUSE DAMAGED IN FIRE

Shortly before midnight, a fire was reported in a vacant house at 403 H Street in Martinez. On arrival Fire crews reported heavy smoke from the eaves of the home. Upon further investigation a bedroom and the attic were found to be fully involved with fire. Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack in concert with rooftop ventilation, containing the fire to the attic and the bedroom of origin. Crews from Martinez, Concord, Pacheco, and Pleasant hill in four engine companies, one ladder truck company and two Battalion Chiefs responded to the incident. No citizen or firefighter injuries reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but believed to be associated with transient activity in the home.
